Capas Municipality

Apart from being the final location of the notorious Bataan Death March, Capas is also known for the Mount Pinatubo hikes, which attract thousands of mountaineers and tourists. The town also has several industrial plants, such as the PilMiCo. Capas is recognized as the "Tourism Capital of Tarlac."

          The Philippine government constructed and maintains the Capas National Shrine in this municipality as a memorial to the Filipino and American soldiers who lost their lives in Camp O'Donnell at Barangay Aranguren. It is an obelisk with a central bell. when the Bataan Death March came to an end. This is a significant website regarding Veterans Day in the Philippines, which is celebrated on April 9 in remembrance of the day in 1942 when the defending US and Philippine Commonwealth forces were forced to surrender to the Japanese. A few thousand American and Filipino POWs on the Bataan Death March were released during the raid at Capas in 1945, when combined US and Philippine Commonwealth ground troops supporting local recognized rebels attacked Japanese forces. For all veterans—Filipino and American—this is a memorable location. Something has to do with the Philippine Veterans Day. The location was the final stop of the historic Death March involving Filipino and American soldiers who surrendered in Bataan on April 9, 1942; it was previously a detention camp and later served as the burial sites for thousands of Filipino and American soldiers who died during World War II.
