Concepcion, the hometown of the late Senator Benigno Aquino, Jr., husband of the late President Corazon Cojuangco- Aquino and father of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III, celebrated its Town Fiesta with a bang. Capas Town Fiesta held a Kasalang Bayan for the first time in its founding anniversary the Mayor of Concepcion, Andres Lacson, together with Vice- Mayor Danilo David and his councilors decided to hold a mass wedding ceremony dubbed as “Kasalang Bayan.”
Lacson said they have noticed that there are many couples living as husband and wife but lack the legality of their union in their town. So they launched the campaign on February 13. And the best time to hold it is on its Fiesta Day, the Feast of the Immaculate Concepcion, Lacson said, believing it will be memorable to the people. “It is our first time to have a grand Kasalang Bayan on the Feast of Immaculate Concepcion, the Patron of our town.
Each couple received gifts, both in kind and cash from Governor Victor A Yap. To make the occasion more interesting and lively, Lacson picked the oldest couple and longest living together outside of marriage. He also officiated the wedding ceremony and David encouraged the couple to stay in love with each other. He expressed excitement in the result of their first Kasalang Bayan: “Ipagpapatuloy pa natin ang ganito sa susunod na Fiesta.”
